Watercolor, acrylic, color pencil, and ink on paper, January 2022
Recent personal developments left me reluctant to trust and devoid of faith in… anything and anyone, really. I closed shop, figuratively and literally, and was convinced I was better off on my own with my arms kept squarely inside the proverbial aircraft, avoiding calling attention to myself at all costs.
But Life does this funny thing in which it squeezes harder until you squeak, and the Universe and my closest loved ones responded to my reluctant vulnerability. Now I am working on letting people in and making friends with hummingbirds that live outside my window.
I mostly just wanted to paint a hummingbird, TBH.
Note: Interference and metallic paints were used on this piece, and I haven’t figured out how to get them to show on scans. I’m just as bummed as you are, maybe a little more.
